In association with Harlequin International, Thomassen Energy held its inaugural AMC in Africa marking a significant milestone on a continent where the company has been actively engaged for decades and plans to continue exploring substantial business opportunities.
The event commenced triumphantly. It was a spectacular showcase characterized by a vibrant atmosphere and engaging interactions and garnered numerous accolades from attendees.
The event officially began on Monday, June 3, with a training day. We commenced registration at noon and promptly started the training sessions. The training attracted 38 participants from seven countries, representing 17 customers, ensuring extensive representation of operational power plants across Africa.
Cihan, the Area Sales Manager for Africa and Master of Ceremonies, inaugurated the Training Day. Following him, Hans and Franklin led various training modules. Their sessions, underscored by insightful queries from the audience, reflected a high level of engagement. Participants received their training certificates at the pool bar, where we also offered refreshments and small bites, and welcomed newly arrived guests for the following day. The evening concluded with a dinner that included the Thomassen team and key attendees, allowing time for appreciative business discussions.
The AMC Conference unfolded on Tuesday, June 4. I had the pleasure of welcoming 44 participants with an opening speech that morning. The day featured a variety of speakers, including a keynote from the Deputy Minister of Energy, Honourable Mr. John Sadie. His speech adeptly addressed the challenges and prospects of the energy transition for all stakeholders involved. A panel discussion with leaders from Harlequin International and PE Energy offered insights into market dynamics and the benefits of national partnerships, emphasizing collaborative efforts to serve our West African clientele better.
The afternoon we provided opportunities for networking over lunch, followed by sessions detailing our service offerings, GT upgrades, rotor life extension programs, and our advanced control system, TC7. The day concluded with an interactive session led by Peter, gathering valuable customer feedback on how our solutions enhance the availability and reliability of gas turbines.
The AMC 2024 Africa closed with a festive African-themed dinner featuring barbecue and performances by the renowned Kwanpa Band.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this landmark event.
